Field-assembled Ultra Coupler for rebar detail image 1

Features

  • A field-installed rebar coupler that connects rebar without separate threading.
  • Applicable to weldable and special seismic rebar.
  • Meets KS D 0249 requirements for uniaxial tensile, low-cycle fatigue and residual-deformation (static strength) testing.
  • Minimizes residual and initial slip to 0.3 mm or less.
  • Complies with the national concrete construction specification and Korea Expressway Corporation inspection criteria for rebar joints.
  • With knobs and sleeves preassembled on movable rebar, installation can be completed on site in less than one minute.

Installation Steps

    1. Insert the coupler and shouldered sleeve onto one rebar in sequence.

    2. Position the knob firmly after the first rib of the rebar.

    3. Hand-tighten the shouldered sleeve and knob. Repeat loosening and tightening in the reverse direction two to three times for complete fixation.

    4. Tighten the thread sleeve and knob on the opposite rebar in the same way.

    5. Assemble and lock the coupler and thread sleeve, then use a pipe wrench to tighten until the rebar is fully secured.

Annual Quality Control and Related Records

Ultra Couplers are quality-tested once each year for SD400, SD500 and SD600 grades. Tensile strength, yield strength and residual deformation results are reviewed as part of routine product quality control.

The latest publicly available reports cover KS D 0249 and KS B 0802 tests conducted by Korea Construction Quality Research Institute (㈜한국건설품질연구소).
